Society has this thing where it makes women feel ashamed of their nipples. Oh my god, did she show her nipple? How brave, right? But it shouldn't be brave. It's a part of the body that has been over-sexualized. Some places around the world allow women to be topless at beaches, but even in those places, you'll catch people, mainly boys, snapping photos. Some do it covertly and some do it in plain sight. Why? They are so fascinated with seeing it, this small area of a woman's body, that their hormones go crazy. To move in the right direction from this antiquated reaction to women's nipples is to normalize them by showing them more often. Women's nipples don't need to be hidden any more than men's nipples need to be hidden. Don't gasp at this photo. It's not porn. It's not sexual. It's a girl in a bathtub holding some flowers. The shock that you might be feeling from the sight of a nipple, analyze it, and then rid it from your being. Let it go, let it go, let it go. Here's to dreaming a world into reality, a world that isn't run by only men and men's rules anymore, a world with actual equality between men and women, by letting our actions speak as loud as our words. This isn't just a call to action for women, but for everyone who supports gender equality. It's time to free the nipple for good. I can't think of a better place to start than a gorgeous clawfoot bathtub. ++ Photo aptly taken by the Bathing Belles.
