Shore of My Mind

I often leap
into the sea of longing
whether it’s for love
for ambition
for peace
and all the places
in between.
She who magnifies
her soul with passion
expands her path.
She who peers
over the edge
into the unknown
will find the truth.
So as always,
here I am
at the shore
of my mind.

What if I let fear stand in my way?

Fear that you won’t like my words, my thoughts, my poems. Then physiopoetry would not exist; this project would have been nothing but a fleeting thought. I’m almost always at the shore of my mind, the place where the elements come together, where fear could easily take over from all that unknown in front of me, ready to leap forward from my ideas into that scary place that comes after.

When you have a good idea, it’s up to you to leap ahead. In the end, that’s the first thing that stands between any person and success. We don’t follow through. We don’t take our ideas and make something of them. We let them pass and then they disappear. Really, we all have great ideas. It’s just that some of us take action and some of us don’t. And I would say the main reason some take action and others don’t is because of fear. Some people let fear of failure stop them from moving forward toward greatness.

And then there is part two, the ridiculously hard work and discipline it takes to be successful. The time you put in, the passion, the energy, and the faith you have to have in yourself in the process to not go crazy or give up or both. This is a real part of how to “make it,” as they say. First you leap in, then you keep going until you get to where you want to be. You stay up late and keep working when others go to sleep, you push out the negative thoughts, you ignore the people who tell you your dreams are hopeless, and you do it.

Thank you a gazillion times to Tatiana Babikova for taking this lovely physiopoetry photo of me on the shores of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
