Every Single Feel

I would not like
to be a rock.

To feel is
the greatest
gift of all.

Tell me
if you
agree.

Maybe I say this a lot, but to feel in the complex ways we do is what makes us complex beings. To feel, through the lightness and the heaviness too, to feel when it’s easy and to feel when it’s difficult, we couldn’t be such amazing creatures without these processes. They provide an opportunity to help us build character, strength, compassion, and love. We just have to view it with the appropriate lens so that it helps us evolve and grow. I don’t think we should resist the hard feelings, but flow into them, accept them for what they are and why they have come. They are going to come anyway, so we might as well find a way to not only live with, but live to the fullest with those painful things that come to pass. While we don’t have control over how we feel, we can control how we let it affect us, how we think about it, and how we react to those feelings. When grief or trauma hits, for example, there is an urge to resist, to wish it away. What I’m suggesting is to fight the urge to resist and to allow ourselves time with those feelings. They are there for a reason. There is nothing wrong with feeling. Sit with your feelings in a room. Talk to them. In time, short or medium or long, they will be on their way. While you have them, get to know them and even more, get to know yourself when a feeling has gripped you. There is invaluable wisdom there, beauty too. Thank you K for existing in the realm of this message, for inspiring this piece and letting me write these words on your skin. You are a beautiful soul.
